“Plant a tree and save millions of lives”
Plantations are important for the environment because they can help preserve water and soil, improve air quality, and support biodiversity:
Preserving water and soil - Trees' root systems help stabilize soil and prevent erosion and landslides. Plantation forests can also act as watersheds, controlling water flow and reducing the risk of flooding while ensuring a steady supply of clean water.
Improving air quality - Trees produce oxygen and reduce pollution, making the air cleaner and the environment safer.
Supporting biodiversity - Sustainable plantations can help protect natural forests and biodiversity by maintaining natural vegetation on 35-40% of the land. Wildlife corridors can also help by connecting habitats, which can increase genetic biodiversity and attract pollinators that are important for agriculture.
